Abstract

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a pandemic caused by Extreme Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has spread across the world and has been one of the worst pandemics in human history. This pandemic causing virus has the most evidence of spread from human to human and can be easily segregated from respiratory secretions, faeces and fomites. There are currently no clear preventive drugs or antiviral agents approved for the novel 2019 coronavirus disease. There are still no proven options available for the treatment of patients with COVID-19 and the prophylaxis of individuals exposed to SARS-CoV-2. It is observed that antibodies accumulate in the blood plasma of a person who has recovered from COVID-19. When this blood plasma is injected into the blood of another patient infected by COVID-19, these antibodies are intended to assist that individual in battling the infection. That is why this research provides us with a sketch of the utility of convalescent plasma therapy as a possible and successful treatment for COVID-19.
