Abstract

Infectious diseases are the leading cause of death world-wide. Antibiotic resistance has become a global concern. The present study also gives for the first time the phytochemical profile of all the extracts used in the present study. Since alkaloids are the secondary metabolites, whose function is known to be defensive to the plant. Further work needs to be carried out to confirm where the alkaloids are responsible for the desired activity. This also serves as important information for further isolation and purification of the active principles from this plant. In the present study, the plant extracts is significantly against the pathogens. Though it is also expressed the phytochemical compounds presence in the plant, it was interesting to observe that there was a reduced to absent in some extracts. It is the view that these different extracts showed which could be precursor to infectious diseases. Since compounds of biological origin are known to posses minimal residual effect. The most active extracts can be subjected to isolation of the therapeutic and carry out further pharmacological evaluation.
